20-year-old Meade County Man Killed in Head-on Crash on KY-144

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A 20-year-old Meade County man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday night, according to Kentucky State Police.

Around 11:15 p.m., KSP and the Meade County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 4100 block of Payneville Road.

According to authorities, Robert Eldridge was driving a 2014 Ford Mustang westbound on Kentucky 144 when he attempted to pass another vehicle. Eldridge of Battletown collided head-on with a 2025 Toyota Tacoma in the eastbound lane.

John Kaw, 44, of Louisville, drove the truck.

Eldridge was pronounced deceased on the scene. Kaw and a passenger in Eldridge’s vehicle were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

KY-144 was closed for several hours to recreate the crash.
