Houston police are investigating a crash that killed a man riding a dirt bike on Saturday. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Greens and Gears Roads.
According to Sgt. Dallas of the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit, a pickup truck was heading west on Gears when it attempted to turn left onto Greens.
At the same moment, a dirt bike was heading east on Greens. The motorcycle and truck crashed at the junction.
According to police, the rider was flung from his seat and collided with another vehicle stopped at the light. The cyclist was allegedly not wearing a helmet at the time.
CPR was done at the scene, but the biker was pronounced dead. At this moment, no one has been identified as being involved in the crash. According to Sgt. Dallas, the biker who died, was in his thirties.
It’s also unclear who had the right of way at the moment of the collision. According to police, witnesses believe that one of the vehicles ran a red light, but detectives are seeking video evidence.
