A death investigation is ongoing on Interstate 10 in the Phoenix region. The investigation was focused near Jefferson Street, west of Sky Harbour International Airport.
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety authorities, the incident began at 5 a.m., when they received many calls regarding automobiles stopped on the freeway’s left side. A trooper arrived to the report and discovered a dead victim who looked to have been hit by several vehicles.
Multiple automobiles remained at the scene, however it is unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the collision.
The inquiry is ongoing, and it is unclear why the individual was in the street or what caused the person to be struck.
Officials have not revealed the victim’s identity.
DPS said anyone who may have struck something or someone in the area during the dark morning hours on Tuesday can call 1-877-429-8477 or make a tip online at adzps.gov/tips.
Multiple lanes were closed in the region for many hours during the investigation, however, they reopened approximately 10 a.m.
