Police Sergeant Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle During Funeral Procession in Angleton

A police sergeant in Texas was killed in an accident while leading a funeral procession, according to officials.

The Angleton Police Department said Monday that Sgt. J.D. White died after being hit by a car while escorting the procession on Sunday.

Officials said White had worked with the department for 19 years, serving the community in a variety of capacities, most recently as the Serjeant of Professional Integrity and the agency’s Public Information Officer.

“This is a tremendous loss for our department and the Angleton community,” Angleton Police Chief Lupe Valdez stated. “Sgt. White was a trusted officer and a compassionate leader who brought heart to every aspect of his work.”

He goes on to say, “His commitment to the Shop with a Cop programme, as well as his ability to connect with and uplift children in our community, speak volumes about the kind of person he was.” His absence will be felt strongly by everyone.”

The police agency expressed its sympathies to White’s family, friends, and fellow cops.
