68-year-old Driver Killed in Utah Highway 89 Head-on Collision, Semi Driver Survives

Investigators with the Utah Highway Patrol suspect a medical emergency caused the tragic crash Thursday afternoon in Sanpete County.

According to a UHP press release, the head-on collision on Highway 89 occurred around 1 p.m. when the driver of a southbound 2005 Chevy Tahoe crossed the centerline near milepost 293 and collided with a northbound semi-truck head on.

The Tahoe’s driver, a 68-year-old male, died on the scene, according to the UHP.

The semi’s driver, a 62-year-old man, managed to escape with minor injuries.
