A 27-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday night after colliding with a cow on a Rich County highway, causing his motorcycle to catch fire.
Deputies and Utah Highway Patrol officers responded to the deadly incident just after 10 p.m. on June 7. It was reported along State Route 39 around milepost 53 in the Monte Cristo area.
Troopers said the man was riding with a group of motorcycles when he hit the cow. The contact ignited his motorbike.
Emergency medical and fire services responded and attempted life-saving procedures. Despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced dead on the site.
The victim’s name has not yet been disclosed by officials, pending communication of family members.
The Utah Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
