37-year-old Worker Injured in Madison County Project Accident, Airlifted to Des Moines Hospital

An adult guy was transported to a hospital after suffering critical injuries on a project in Madison County.

On Monday morning, around 10:54 a.m., a 911 caller notified the Madison County Sheriff’s Office that an adult male had been injured on a job site in the 2700 block of Peru Road, southeast of Peru.

Sheriff’s deputies and Madison County Ambulance personnel arrived on the scene and discovered the 37-year-old victim with critical injuries. According to the sheriff’s office, the victim was hurt while using apparatus used in fiber optic installation.

The person was flown to a Des Moines hospital by air ambulance. As of Tuesday, the victim’s condition is unknown.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim’s life was most likely saved by his coworkers, who administered first aid immediately and continued until paramedics came.

There has been no new information revealed.
