Deadly Crash in Fort Wayne Claims Life of 93-year-old Woman During Police Chase

A 24-year-old guy is in the Allen County Jail following a tragic crash Monday that resulted from a drug-related pursuit.

Tyler Alberding, the suspect named by Indiana State Police, allegedly refused to stop when officers attempted to pull him over for a drug investigation. He ended up colliding with an SUV and a pickup truck near the intersection of Clinton Street and Wallen Road.

An elderly woman in the SUV was brought to the hospital in critical condition, but she ultimately died of her injuries. The Allen County Coroner’s Office recognised her as Carolyn Hutchinson, 93, of Fort Wayne.

An 80-year-old guy in the truck was transported to the hospital with significant injuries.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department website, Alberding is facing a plethora of charges, including fleeing the scene of a deadly crash, driving with a suspended licence, supplying meth, and dealing cocaine or another narcotic drug.

The Indiana State Police are still investigating the crash.
