A Worth County woman is accused of insurance fraud after falsely stating she was involved in the same accident multiple times.
Marquise Kendra Jewell Lewis-Swinney, 30, of Northwood, is charged with five counts of insurance fraud for providing fraudulent information.
According to court documents, Lewis-Swinney filed a legal insurance claim on July 1, 2024, after her automobile was damaged. Lewis-Swinney had been following a truck with a trailer full of pebbles. Rocks had fallen from the trailer, shattering Lewis-Swinney’s car’s windshield and wounding the passengers.
According to law enforcement, the trucking company’s insurer has agreed to compensate Lewis-Swinney $7,104.24 in property damage and physical injuries.
According to investigators, Lewis-Swinney attempted to fabricate the same accident five times between July and October of 2024. According to court filings, Lewis-Swinney would seek other trucks hauling similar trailers full of rocks, get the drivers to pull over, obtain the driver’s insurance information, and then submit another claim alleging that pebbles falling from the trailer had broken her windshield. According to law police, Lewis-Swinney submitted fake insurance claims using images of the July 1 accident damage.
Lewis-Swinney is accused of submitting fake insurance claims to Auto-Owners Insurance, Acuity Insurance, National General Insurance, and Progressive Insurance. Criminal charges against Lewis-Swinney were filed in Worth County District Court on June 5.
