18 Rabbits, Including Baby Bunnies, Dumped in Cages by Colorado Dumpster — Suspect Located

On Thursday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office identified the person who left over a dozen pet rabbits in cages by a dumpster in May.

Deputies reported that on May 10, 18 rabbits, including two litters of young bunnies, a couple adult females, and one adult male, were discovered imprisoned in a cage beside a dumpster at 15730 W 6th Ave Frontage Road, near I-70 and 6th Avenue.

Deputies claimed the community’s information helped them locate the perpetrator, who was charged with 18 charges of animal cruelty.

Deputies said that four to five bunnies were available for adoption at the Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden.

“We couldn’t have done this without you,” deputies stated. “Thanks for keeping an eye out and making a difference.”

As of Thursday, deputies had not publicly identified the suspect.
