Man in ICU After Two Semis Crash in Front of RV, Destroying Couple’s Home Near Monroe County

A guy is in intensive care after two semi-trucks collided in front of his RV on the interstate near Monroe County Friday night. Cassandra Mullen and her husband, Shaine Smith had driven their RV from Florida to Michigan to surprise family on Father’s Day.

Mullen stated that they were 15 minutes from their destination when the two semis collided directly in front of the couple, who were unable to stop in time.

“It was just lots of panic – you see that starting to happen in front of you, so you start yelling and getting really scared and a few seconds later – you’re smashed,” Mullen claimed on FOX 2.

Mullen walked away with minor injuries.

“Shaine really saved my life by turning, he took the major hit,” according to Mullen.

Unfortunately, Smith became trapped to the steering wheel.

“He was stuck in that vehicle for an hour to two as well,” Mullen told me. “I couldn’t image what he was going through in those moments. I’m not sure how much PTSD it may cause.”

Mullen stated that Smith received two blood transfusions and was transported to a second hospital in an attempt to save his leg. He also suffered slight fractures in his hip and sternum.

The couple lost their home as a result of the incident.

“It was our home on wheels, so everything clothing, his clothing, important documents, everything, books, I don’t even know,” pointed out Mullen.
