Brutal Attack in Savannah: Woman Hospitalized After Being Dragged, Beaten While Walking Home From Bar

A night out turned terrifying for two women who claim they were attacked while vacationing in downtown Savannah.

Aubrey Warpool and Makenzie Cave were returning to their Airbnb from a night out at a bar near Bay Street when the attack occurred.

According to a police report filed on June 8, the women had been walking for about 20 minutes when a tall man approached from behind and grabbed Cave, throwing her to the ground.

Authorities said the women told them that the man then dragged Cave by his hair, while Warpool began to fight back, hitting and screaming.

After the man released Cave, the two started running while he took off in the opposite direction.

First responders transported Cave to the hospital. She had a large gash on her legs and what appeared to be a handprint across her throat.

The women suspected their attacker was a man they saw earlier in the evening while out. They didn’t know him. Cave suffered visible bruises and what she describes as temporary nerve damage in her legs as a result of being dragged.

The women claim the attacker pulled so hard that he ripped Cave’s pants and underwear as she attempted to flee that night. They also stated that the man was not wearing pants.

Savannah police are calling the incident an attempted kidnapping.

Madison Alvarez, who lives near the attack site, says she was shocked to learn of the incident.

“I go downtown, I go to the bars, I have walked, I walked that before,” she went on: “I always assumed it was a safe area…” I suppose it isn’t, at least at night.

The attacker’s description is vague, but he is thought to be a tall, slender man around 6 feet tall, with dark skin and a gray hoodie.

The victims claimed he also had a deep voice.
