The Colorado Springs Police Department announced that three of its K-9 officers—Blue, Loki, and Nyx—have received bullet- and stab-resistant protective vests, thanks to a generous donation from the nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
Each vest was sponsored individually. Loki’s vest was provided by Laura and Tom Kelecy, bearing the inscription: “Gifted by Laura & Tom Kelecy in K9 Britta’s Memory.” Blue’s vest was donated by Tim and Jenni Brown and is embroidered with: “In honor of protecting all that serve and protect.”
Nyx received her vest from the family, friends, and colleagues of CSPD Detective Jared S. Jensen, featuring the words: “In honor of Detective Jared S. Jensen.”
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has supplied more than 6,120 protective vests to law enforcement dogs nationwide, with a total value of approximately $6.9 million.
