Six Children Thrown From Overturned Car in Pasco County Crash, Hospitalized

Six children were hospitalized on Wednesday after being ejected from a vehicle during a crash in Pasco County, Florida.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just after 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and State Road 52 near Hudson. A 33-year-old woman from Hudson was driving northbound on U.S. 19 in a Nissan Cube when she reportedly ran a red light and struck another vehicle that was turning onto State Road 52.

The impact caused the Nissan Cube to overturn, ejecting all six child passengers onto the roadway. The children, ranging in age from 5 to 9 years old, were transported to local hospitals with injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.

The driver of the Nissan Cube also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment. The other driver involved, a 42-year-old Hudson man, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital transport.

The crash prompted a temporary closure of portions of U.S. 19 as investigators worked at the scene. The road was fully reopened by 1:13 p.m.
