A semi-truck drove off the southbound 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass early Friday morning, sliding down an embankment, colliding with a utility pole, and nearly missing neighboring railroad tracks.
The incident was reported about 3:47 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) data, the huge rig came to a stop around 200 feet off the road. Following the incident, the driver was seen outside the vehicle walking about.
Images from the incident show the vehicle stuck against a leaning power pole, with a large utility crew there. The railing above the slope was obviously broken, and a drainage culvert at the roadway edge was ripped apart, revealing the truck’s point of departure.
According to CHP files, fire crews first cautioned against approaching the semi-truck owing to potential electrical dangers. “Fire advising they don’t want anyone near the semi/power pole until Edison goes 97 and declares scene safe,” according to a log record.
Southern California Edison technicians responded to inspect the poles and power lines. Bucket trucks were dispatched to the location to begin repairs, and the situation remained active as of late morning.
Tow services were summoned and initially canceled, but then re-requested, with a heavy-duty unit from Armada Tow responding to help with the recovery effort.
As of 10:00 a.m., traffic in the Cajon Pass remained high as crews worked near the incident site and vehicles slowed passed the scene.
There were no injuries recorded. The CHP Inland Division is still investigating the cause of the crash.
