Man Loses Leg and Part of Arm in Devastating Motorcycle Crash on US-27 in Broward County

A guy lost his leg and part of his arm, and another person was hurt in a major motorbike accident on U.S. Highway 27 in Broward County on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

Just after 4:30 p.m., Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue responded to reports of a significant motorbike collision on US-27 near Griffin Road. Upon arrival, personnel discovered the two injured individuals.

According to the BSOFR, one individual received significant injuries, including a “traumatic leg amputation and a partially amputated arm.” Meanwhile, the second individual sustained a shoulder injury.

Because of the severity of the injuries, both victims were labelled Level 1 trauma alerts on the site, and BSOFR sought assistance from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Air Rescue crew, who evacuated the seriously injured guy to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. BSOFR transported the other person to the same hospital in an ambulance.

According to the BSOFR, a minor fire involving the motorcycle was also recorded and swiftly extinguished by attending engine company personnel.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.
