Dallas (AP) According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a $22 million, two-year contract to keep right-hander Blake Treinen and a $17 million, one-year contract to acquire outfielder Michael Conforto, as reported by The Associated Press.
Because the agreements were contingent on good physicals, the people who spoke on Sunday night did so under the condition of anonymity. MLB.com was the first to report on Conforto’s agreement.
Conforto, a former first-round choice who turns 32 on March 1, finished the last season of a two-year, $36 million contract with San Francisco by hitting.237 with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs.
He was an All-Star in 2017 after playing for the New York Mets from 2015 to 21. Conforto declined the Mets’ $18.4 million offer and waited to sign until 2022 as he healed from surgery on his right shoulder.
Over nine major league seasons, Conforto has a.251 lifetime average, 167 home runs, and 520 RBIs.
Treinen, 36, missed the 2023 major league season as he recuperated from surgery on November 11, 2022, to repair his rotator cuff and labrum. He didn’t make his season debut until May 5 after suffering a bruised lung on March 9 after being struck by a line drive from Sam Huff of the Texas Rangers.
In 50 bullpen appearances, Treinen finished 7-3 with a 1.93 ERA, walking 11 and striking out 56 in 46 2/3 innings. He made nine playoff appearances for the World Series champions, going 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA.
Last season, in the option year of a deal that called for a $8 million salary in 2023, he received a base salary of $1 million.
