This Memphis, Tennessee DJ murdered at home, found with keys ‘still in his hand’ and pants ‘pulled down to his feet

Authorities in Memphis are currently investigating the disturbing death of a well-known DJ in the Memphis area.

Rick Buchanan, also known as “Slick Rick,” was reportedly found dead in his home with his head severed and his pants down.

The discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon by Buchanan’s brother, John Buchanan, who received a troubling call from one of Rick’s neighbors. John arrived at his brother’s home, and found the front door locked, but discovered the back door open. Upon entering, he came across the gruesome scene and immediately called 911.

In an initial interview, John described finding his brother with his keys still in hand and pants pulled down to his feet. He initially left out the graphic details but later confirmed on Thursday that Rick had been decapitated. John mentioned that Rick had been working less after a previous incident about a decade ago when he was shot during a robbery outside a music venue in 2014.

Following the 2014 shooting, Rick became more reclusive, facing challenges in finding work and preferring to stay home with his dog, “Lucky.” John, now planning to adopt his brother’s dog, expressed uncertainty about any connection between the recent incident and the 2014 shooting.

On Friday, the Memphis Police Department confirmed the discovery of a deceased adult male in the 4500 block of Angel Street. However, they stated that there were no immediate signs of foul play and that the cause of death was undetermined. The investigation is ongoing.
