Explore Where ‘Resident Alien’ is Filmed: Best Time to Visit, Wildlife, and More!

Resident Alien has captured the hearts of many comedic and science fiction enthusiasts. It tells the story of an alien that crashes in a little community in Colorado. It is based on the comic book authored by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse. The sitcom first aired on January 27, 2021, and has grown in popularity since. If you are a fan of the show, you may be wondering where it is filmed.

Despite being set in the small, fictional town of Patience, Colorado, the series was not shot in the United States.

Resident Alien was filmed in Vancouver, Canada.

Filming Locations Include Vancouver and Ladysmith

The majority of the series was shot inside two sound stages in Vancouver, with some outdoor scenes taken nearby. The majority of the inside sequences took place at Sim Derwent Studios. The 55,300-square-foot structure has two sound stages and plenty of production space. Delta is located approximately 15 kilometers from downtown Vancouver.

Several outdoor sequences were shot in the adjacent town of Ladysmith. Another renowned film, Sonic the Hedgehog, was also shot in the area. All of the outdoor sequences were filmed outside, at various sites across Ladysmith and Vancouver.

The photos taken outside Harry’s lakeside cabin were taken from an inlet, not a lake. Because both are enormous bodies of water, it was simple to edit the scenes so they appeared differently in the program. Ladysmith was also used for filming the pub, health clinic, and town hall.

Ladysmith is already a small town, so the producers didn’t have to do much to make it look like the imaginary hamlet of Patience. The majority of Ladysmith’s architecture was erected in the early 1900s, which contributed to the little mountain town vibe.

It was critical to the filming that the three main sites of the plot — the pub, clinic, and town hall — were all within sight of one another. Finding all of that, plus a small-town vibe and true town approval for filming, was like finding a needle in a haystack. Fortunately, the creators found all of that and more in Ladysmith.

Filming Locations: Sea to Sky Corridor

The icy, mountainous shots were more difficult to film. They were shot in the Sea to Sky Corridor region, which was only accessible by helicopter. This made it impossible to transfer the crew, performers, camera equipment, and props to set the scene. The majority of the pictures in the Sea to Sky Corridor were captured at Rainbow Mountain and the Pemberton Ice Cap.

Best Time to Visit and What to Do

The best time to visit Ladysmith is from June to September. This is the warmest time of year, with the least amount of rain forecast. During these months, the temperature ranges between 68 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ladysmith is located on the shore, so you may swim and paddleboard at Transfer Beach. There’s also a fantastic downtown area with local cafés and stores. The town is famed for its art and culture, thus the Waterfront Art Gallery is an excellent place to visit. There are also a few walking pathways that wind around the downtown area, highlighting the town’s history and culture.

The greatest time to visit Vancouver is during the summer months when temperatures are mild and the likelihood of rain is low. There are several locations to visit in the city, but Stanley Park is the most popular. The 20-mile seawall track provides walkers and bikers with a stunning beachfront perspective. It’s also a free park to explore, so it’s an excellent way to spend the day.

Queen Elizabeth Park, second only to Stanley Park, is a stunning outdoor environment to explore. This park features a rose garden, numerous exotic birds and flora, and sculptures throughout. It provides stunning views of the mountains and city.

If you wish to see the cold and mountainous filming locations, visit the Sea to Sky Corridor. The Sea to Sky Highway, which travels through it, has been rated one of the world’s top road journeys. While you won’t be able to visit specific filming locations unless you ride in a helicopter, you will be treated to some breathtaking views.
