Creators of Oxford Exchange Bring a New Rooftop Bar Concept to Tampa

Fans of a nice rooftop bar, raise your hands.

Casa Cami, a new Mexican restaurant and rooftop bar, will debut later this month at the Current Hotel.

The venue from the busy folks behind Oxford Exchange and Predalina opens March 19 and will occupy the 10th level of the Rocky Point hotel, featuring breathtaking views of Tampa Bay – ideal for sipping a margarita at sunset.

It’s the newest project from the Oxford Commons group, which is led by brothers Blake Casper and Allison Casper Adams. Predalina, an upscale Mediterranean restaurant at Tampa’s Water Street development, opened in July, and the team will unveil the rebuilt (and relocated) Mad Dogs & Englishmen pub in South Tampa this fall.

But just now, the focus is on Casa Cami.

The rooftop space at the Current Hotel, which is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is not new. The hotel launched in 2019 and was acquired by the Oxford Commons company in 2021. Since then, the hotel has been managed by a company, and until recently, amenities included a rooftop bar and the downstairs restaurant Julian.

Casa Cami marks the group’s gradual integration into the hotel’s food and beverage program. According to Jess Anderson, the company’s director of business development, within the next year or two, they will most certainly leave their mark on Julian and the hotel’s lobby bar as well.

Upstairs, the bar was converted into a full-service restaurant, which required the demolition of two hotel rooms to make way for a kitchen. Alex Hoaks, the restaurant’s executive chef, formerly worked at St. Petersburg’s The Library, another Oxford Commons location.

The menu, partly influenced by Allison Casper Adams and her husband Robby’s love of Mexican cuisine, begins with small snacks such as guacamole with cotija cheese ($15), queso laced with guajillo chiles ($14), and tacos ($15-$20 for three).

Entree-sized servings include a green chili chicken with salsa verde and sweet plantain hash ($28) and a barbacoa short rib fajita with cippolini onions, blistering shishitos, piquillo peppers, and pistachio salsa macha ($36).

Craft cocktails and a wide agave spirit selection will be served alongside an abbreviated bar food menu of small meals and snacks. Weekend brunch options include a chorizo Benedict with poached eggs and guajillo queso on English muffins and crispy potatoes ($20) and chilaquiles with queso fresco, sunny-side-up eggs, pickled onions, avocado, and cumin-lime crema ($22).

The restaurant, which has both indoor and outdoor seating, will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will serve late-night cocktails until 12 a.m. Sunday–Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday–Saturday.
