Despite her cancer fight, Kate Middleton plans to make son Louis’ 6th birthday memorable

Despite her cancer treatment, Princess Kate Middleton’s children remain her top focus.

The Princess of Wales, 42, is expected to ensure that her son Louis’ sixth birthday is celebrated normally on April 23. Kate and her husband, Prince William, have made it a point to instill a feeling of normalcy in their children, which includes continuing to celebrate significant milestones.

Kate enjoys celebrating birthdays, as she has previously shown her fondness for baking.

When asked about her children’s birthdays in 2022, she told Hello magazine’s Mary Berry, “I enjoy creating the cake. It’s become somewhat of a tradition for me to stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, and I always make far too much. But I love it.”

She’ll have lots of chances to satisfy her affection in the near future. Princess Charlotte turns nine a few weeks later, on May 2, and Prince George turns ten on July 22. Kate and William, 41, will also be celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29.

Kate could also be able to help. Her children appear to have inherited her passion for baking, as George, Charlotte, and Louis collaborated to create their mother a Mother’s Day cake a few years ago. Perhaps one or more will provide a hand in the coming weeks to make their siblings’ birthdays memorable.

Most importantly, Kate is present and able to be a mother.

“As I have told them, I am well, and I’m getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirit,” Kate said of her children when she revealed her illness.

Friends of the royal family told People in a cover story that Kate finds strength in her children’s presence.

The children “buoy [Kate and William] with smiles,” according to a family friend.

Kate did not join the royal family’s Easter celebration on Sunday, March 31, as she continues to recover. Instead, she and William celebrated privately with their children. Kensington Palace says the princess would resume routine duties once her medical team has approved her.

“We hope that you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment,” she added in a written statement. “My work has always provided me much delight, and I hope to return when I am able. But for now, I must concentrate on complete recuperation.”
