Glens Falls man charged with drugged driving after police chase

A Glens Falls man was arrested for allegedly driving while on drugs and leading police on a chase that ended in a crash.

State Police attempted to stop Damion W. Germain, 47, on Nov 11 around 6:30 p.m. in Malta for a traffic violation. Police said Germain did not stop, and troopers chased after him.

Police said Germain was driving recklessly. The pursuit was called off in the area of Ushers Road because of safety concerns.

Troopers later found Germain stopped at a red light at the intersection of Route 9 and Fire Road in Halfmoon. He again took off when police approached, and led police on another chase, which was terminated in Mechanicville. German then crashed and overturned on Route 4, police said.

German was not hurt. Police also found a drug in his possession. He allegedly refused to submit to a drug test. 

German was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, three counts of unlawful fleeing a police officer, obstructing governmental administration, criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired by drugs. He was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
