According to officials, one person died and another was injured after being hit by a train in New Hampshire.
Officers responded to train tracks in a forested area shortly before 3:30 p.m. on June 2, according to an Exeter Police Department news release.
According to officials, 42-year-old Alicia Leonardi and a companion were walking their dog along the train tracks when an Amtrak train approached.
According to investigators, the dog was drawn to the train’s sound and ran onto the tracks. According to authorities, Leonardi and the man attempted to move the dog off the tracks but were struck by the train.
Leonardi died, and the male sustained minor injuries, according to authorities. Officers informed WCSH that the dog survived. Exeter is approximately a 30-mile drive east of Manchester.
