French Bulldog Stolen in Wilmington Burglary, Owner Heartbroken: ‘She Can’t Be Replaced’

Police in Wilmington are investigating after a man’s 2-year-old French bulldog, Tooty, was stolen during a house burglary.

According to police, the burglary occurred around 1:15 a.m. on Friday near N. West Street and E. Matson Run Parkway.

Jahmeir Snow, Tooty’s owner, claims no one was home at the time. Snow says he typically takes Tooty to work, but she’s in heat, so he left her at home. Looking back, he wishes he had not deviated from his usual regimen.

“Now that she’s gone, my thoughts are constantly racing. Sometimes it’s difficult to concentrate on the road. “I’m constantly reminded of her because she’s right there as my passenger,” Snow explained.

“I feel like someone kidnapped my child,” he told me.

Police have not published any suspect information, but a video obtained by Action News appears to capture the moment the thief strolled away with Tooty in a cage in the middle of the night.

According to Snow, the thief busted down the door to gain entry before firing rounds inside for unknown reasons. There is now plywood where the glass used to be, and a bullet remains lodged in the door frame. Snow claims critical documents, electronics, clothing, and shoes were also taken.

“All the other stuff is material, but the dog is the main thing we’re worried about because I can’t replace her, ever,” Snow said.

Police have been investigating since Friday, but they are now asking the public for aid in locating the dog and identifying the burglary suspect.

Snow claims he has no idea whether he was targeted, but French bulldogs are a popular and costly breed. According to law enforcement authorities, thieves target them with the intention of reselling or demanding a ransom from the owners.
