The woman accused of leaving her children in a Pontiac home for years has been released from jail on bond with a few conditions.
Kelly Marie Bryant was freed on Thursday (June 5), with only Local 4 cameras filming. Bryant served more than 100 days in prison for allegedly leaving her 15, 13, and 12-year-old children at home alone for years in deplorable conditions.
When Bryant was initially indicted, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald expressed concern about the gravity of the situation.
“The children were afraid to come out of their hiding places and speak with the cops. The police had to continuously remind the children that they were there to help and that they were safe. “The children’s Blairs and clothing were covered in feces, and the girls had difficulty physically walking outside the residence,” Karen McDonald stated on February 20, 2025.
Her bail requires her to have no contact with the victims in the case. This encompasses both physical and digital touch.
However, there is considerable danger that Bryant will make an attempt.
Bryant’s communication privileges were removed in March after McDonald reported that she attempted to contact the children’s babysitter.
Here’s the prosecution’s attorney handling the case.
“Your Honor, my worry is twofold. First, Ms. Bryant broke the court’s no-contact order on 37-2025, but she is now circumventing Oakland County Jail’s procedures by having other inmates contact on her behalf,” stated the Attorney on March 18, 2025.
Bryant’s lawyer claims she was unaware she couldn’t contact the children’s caregiver, and no one received a written copy of the court no-contact order.
Regardless, she will no longer have any contact with the children or anyone under the age of 18.
There will be no return to the address where the children were left or where they are currently living with family.
If any of these requirements are broken, Bryant may be arrested instantly without a warrant.
