Authorities in Florida say a father is facing charges in connection with his little son’s death.
According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Scott Allen Gardner, 33, was arrested Thursday with the assistance of the Ormond Beach Police Department.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said he is being charged with aggravated manslaughter of a kid and child maltreatment causing grave bodily damage.
Gardner is accused of leaving his 18-month-old son Sebastian “helpless” in a sweltering truck for more than three hours on June 6 while he went for a haircut and a drink at Hanky Panky’s.
During an investigation, officers claimed Gardner provided various false stories of what happened that day.
The sheriff’s office stated that medical experts estimated Sebastian’s body temperature to be 111 degrees while inside the vehicle.
A police officer dispatched to the site attempted to revive Sebastian but was unable to do so, investigators added.
Gardner was taken into police custody at his mother’s house in Ormond Beach.
