Louisville Woman Gets 7 Years After Meth-fueled Crash Leaves Mother, Child Critically Injured

A lady was sentenced to seven years in prison for causing a crash that left a mother with life-threatening injuries and gravely injured her eight-year-old kid.

The collision happened on July 1, 2022, at the junction of Shelbyville Road and North Madison Avenue in Middletown. According to authorities, Amber Washington, 34, ran a red light and collided with another vehicle carrying the mother and kid.

The mother sustained a shattered jaw, three brain bleeds, 12 rib fractures, a severed spleen, and her spine was torn from her pelvis. The eight-year-old suffered leg injuries.

Washington was also brought to the hospital following the accident with significant injuries. Police reported that she was “very erratic” at the scene and later tested positive for methamphetamine and THC.

On Wednesday, Washington pleaded guilty to assault, wanton endangerment, and driving under the influence.
