2 Dead, 2 Injured in Multi-vehicle Crash on Pennsylvania Turnpike Near Upper Moreland

A multi-vehicle incident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Upper Moreland Township has killed two individuals and injured two more.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 276 between the Willow Grove and Fort Washington exits.

According to one witness, two automobiles looked to be racing.

Police said the vehicles lost control and collided with the barricades at high speeds, killing the two drivers.

Following the original incident, a third vehicle collided with one of the crashed vehicles on the road.

Two of the third vehicle’s occupants suffered minor injuries.

A number of automobiles passing through the crash site collided with vehicle debris, inflicting flat tires and other damage to their vehicles.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike’s eastbound lanes between the Willow Grove and Fort Washington exits were halted for several hours Sunday morning as police investigated.

They’ve since reopened.
