A Richland County lady was killed and another injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Mount Gilead Post.
Troopers said that the accident occurred at 12:25 p.m. on Ohio 95 north of Fredericktown in Knox County.
The patrol reported that Alicia Johnson, 70, of Plymouth, was riding a 2020 Vespa GTS300 motorcycle southwest on Ohio 95. Bridgette Murray, 52, from Mansfield, was a passenger on the motorcycle. Troopers say Johnson failed to handle a bend, drove off the right side of the road, and overturned.
Johnson and Murray were taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, according to the patrol.
Murray was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to troopers, who stated Johnson had suffered serious injuries.
The patrol stated that Murray was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Troopers stated Johnson was wearing a helmet.
Troopers believe alcohol and/or narcotics were not involved.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Fredericktown Police Department, and Fredericktown Fire/EMS provided assistance to the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the incident.
The crash is still being investigated, according to the patrol.
