A Clearwater man accused of sexual battery on a child was arrested and charged on Friday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
According to detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit, Bobby McAffee, 62, was identified as a suspect when an adolescent victim claimed being sexually beaten when he was 8.
The investigation, which began on August 23, 2024, found that the incident occurred in St. Petersburg.
According to investigators, McAfee admitted to making sexual contact with the victim during an interview with detectives on Friday.
McAffee also told detectives that he tested positive for HIV, which the victim had only recently discovered, according to authorities.
McAffee faces one count of sexual battery on a child under the age of twelve.
He was brought to Pinellas County Jail after being arrested.
The investigation is underway.
