Man Killed in Sugar Land Crash Just Days After Wedding; Street Racing Suspects in Custody

Two men have been arrested following a deadly street racing crash in Sugar Land that claimed the life of 32-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed, who had just gotten married days earlier.

The crash occurred around 9:40 p.m. Saturday on Highway 6 near Voss Road. According to Sugar Land police, Mohammed was driving a Toyota Camry when a Ford Mustang, involved in a street race, slammed into his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Roman Pollock, 20, who was driving the Mustang, remained on the scene and was transported to the hospital along with two others. He has been charged with manslaughter and was released on a $100,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for August 4.

Police say 26-year-old Kamran Kamran, the driver of a BMW racing Pollock, fled the scene. Authorities arrested him Tuesday after locating his vehicle with help from a witness. Kamran is charged with manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid. He remains in jail on a $500,000 bond.

Mohammed’s employer, Jahanzaib Lakhani, said he had moved from India to the Houston area two years ago on an H1-B visa. After being laid off from a tech job, Mohammed was hired at a repair shop on Harwin, where he quickly became a favorite among customers.

Just two days before the crash, Mohammed had married and was planning to move in with his wife. He had been leaving his father-in-law’s home and was on his way to pick up keys to their new apartment.

“We’re going to miss him for a very long time,” said Habib Ahmad, a nearby business owner. “He was a sweet guy. Very nice.”
